Enjoy this plant based gluten free and tasty south Indian delicacy made with jackfruit flour.


  • 2cups Water
  • 1/2cup Rice Flour
  • 1/2cup Jackfruit Flour from Nutty Yogi
  • Salt(optional)


  • Get water to a rolling boil and lower the flame.
  • Add both the flours & salt(if using) and mix vigorously immediately to mix in all the dry flour.
  • Cover and cook on low flame for 2 mins.
  • Turn off the flame and let it sit for 5mins.
  • Empty on a plate and rub to break any lumps.
  • Meanwhile, keep the idiyappam/idly steamer ready.
  • Fill the idiyappam mould and squeeze it on the tray/stand.
  • Steam for 7mins on high and 7mins on low.
  • Serve hot with chutney/curry.


1.  The dough has to be hot enough when putting it in the mould.
2.  You can splash some water if the dough feels too crumbly.
3.  You can use the made idiyappam to make Savige/Semaiyya too!
